Georgia Life & Health Insurance License Exam Guide (2026)
In July 2025 Georgia cut its pre-licensing education requirement from 20 hours per line to just 8 hours per line — one of the most licensing-friendly changes in the country. Most third-party sites have not caught up, so double-check any hours figure against the current rule.

Pre-licensing education in Georgia
Under the amended Ga. Comp. R. & Regs. 120-2-3-.08(1), Georgia now requires an 8-hour course for Life and an 8-hour course for Accident & Sickness (16 hours total for both lines), completed within the 12 months before you apply. If you see a prep site listing 20 or 40 hours for Georgia, it is quoting the pre-2025 rule. CLU, insurance degrees, FLMI and certain other designations qualify for full waivers.
If you fail: retake rules
After a first or second failed attempt you must wait 14 days to retest; after the third and any subsequent attempt, 60 days. The number of attempts is unlimited.

- Exam fee: $67 per attempt (Pearson VUE)
